My Story
Dr. Jenkins earned a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and Cell Science with Honors from the University of Florida in 2002. She received her medical degree from the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine in 2006. She then fulfilled a residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at the University of Florida, where she served as chief resident. Dr. Jenkins completed her training with a fellowship in gastrointestinal pathology at Ameripath’s Gastrointestinal Pathology Institute in Cleveland, Ohio. Her professional affiliations include the College of American Pathologists, the American Society for Clinical Pathology, and the Rodger C. Haggitt Gastrointestinal Pathology Society.
Dr. Jenkins has authored and collaborated on several publications and was granted the prestigious Stowell-Orbison Award at the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology Annual meeting in 2008. Dr. Jenkins developed an interest in pathology early in her life during her high school anatomy class where a feline necropsy allowed the study of anatomy with great detail. “My love for anatomy and histology as well as microbiology was only brightened in medical school. The choice to become a pathologist was easy after I learned how much joy was to be found in providing definitive diagnostic answers for my fellow clinicians and the community.”
During her spare time, Dr. Jenkins enjoys spending time with her family. Other interests include travel, beaches, gardening, reading, and theme parks. She is excited to be returning to her hometown of DeLand, FL.
