John Michael Newman, M.D.

Dr. John Michael Newman is a board-certified anatomic and neuropathologist who joins East Coast Pathology of Florida after completing his Neuropathology fellowship at Stanford Health Care and Anatomic Pathology residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He earned his medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine. 

While neuropathology is his primary professional passion, Dr. Newman enjoys the breadth of surgical pathology and takes an interest in all types of surgical pathology specimens. His neuropathology expertise includes central and peripheral nervous system tumors, neurodegenerative diseases, myopathic and neuropathic disorders, epilepsy-related pathology, and neuropathologic autopsy practice. Dr. Newman has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, including five as first author. Among his research contributions is the identification of a novel tick-borne bacterium associated with pregnancy loss. He has also been extensively involved in teaching throughout his medical training. In his free time, Dr. Newman enjoys spending time with his fiancé, going to the beach, playing soccer, and traveling. Dr. Newman is committed to providing thoughtful, accurate, and clinically integrated pathology diagnoses while working closely with physicians to support excellent patient care.
